Men increasingly discovering that women knew all along: it stimulates self-esteem when you look your best. Some cosmetics companies benefit from a range of creams and makeup, especially for men, and they are buying it.
Popularity aside, the trick is to know the look you want and apply them accordingly. We are not saying that you wear all the makeup listed below. You choose cosmetics that work best for the look you are trying to achieve and do some experiments. Remember to buy Matt varieties and avoid frosts and glitter, unless you want to look like a girly man.
Foundation
Wearing foundation helps imperfections, gaps in coverage and buttons. If you have a beard, it is not recommended because it tends to look inconsistent and leaves unwanted residue on whiskers. If you have facial hair, you can use a concealer instead, to hide blemishes and imperfections.
Like most men have larger pores than women, they clog easily. An oil-based foundation can make you prone to outbreaks and zits, so look for a guy who is water-based and thin. Apply it sparingly, only one application. Remember, the mixture is the key, so that rubbing your scalp and neck to avoid lines that give signs that you are disguised.
Tinted Moisterizer
If you're sick of wearing foundation, opt for a tinted moisturizer that will soften your skin after shaving and add a splash of color or beige. If you can not find a brand for guys, you can look in the women's section, but beware of finding one that will add shine or sparkles to your skin. Look for a moisturizing cream base with a light tint and unadorned. Again, find one that will compliment your skin tone, not change it.
Powder
The bright lights and warm temperatures tend to make skin look shiny and moist. The main purpose of the powder is to remove the gloss, which is very important for those working on stage or a photo shoot. For a natural look, give up the foundation and wear powder only. When you apply, concentrating on areas that are the brightest, your forehead, nose and chin.
Popular choices include for the pressed powder (in a compact) and loose. Pressed powder comes with a powder puff (for lack of better term) for easy application. Loose powder is best applied with a large makeup brush, which is, in most cases, not included. The powder is available in different shades of color or translucent, which means no color is added.
Eyeliner / Guyliner
If you want a gothic look, using eyeliner door is oh so effective. Rock stars like Joel Madden and Billie Joe Armstrong and remove it. Generally, if you have a male face, you'll want to apply it lightly.
Use a black eyeliner to draw a subtle line under your lower lashes. Stir the edges for a more natural look. If you have light or blonde eyelashes, use black mascara to match. If your skin is pale, tone it down and choose dark brown or brown / black eyeliner. Do not try too hard or it will be messy rather than calling.
Once you're comfortable, you can try your own style to make a statement. If you want less dramatic features, use the eye pencil to fill the spaces between your lashes. This will make them appear thicker and fuller.
Mascara
Unless you wear black eyeliner, you do not need to wear mascara enhanced color. If you do, a layer for you. Use as little as possible to avoid lumps and flakes.
Clear mascara, this is an ideal choice for men. It will lengthen the lashes and add volume. Another advantage is that if it smears, it will not appear because it is almost impossible to see. Clear mascara is also an eyebrow comb to keep strays in place.
Lip Balm / Lipstick
Wear lipstick only with a rocker style. Even then, you should wear it at your own discretion. Usually, lighter tones look unflattering on guys, so stick with dark shades that enhance your own lip color. If you want to look natural, wear clear lip balm for a little shine and kisses protection against the elements.
